Marx, Hayek,and Utopia

PUBLISHED REVIEWS

BETTINA BIEN GREAVES, LIBERTY 11, no. 2 (NOVEMBER 1997): 66-69

"TO THE DIALECTICIANS OF ALL PARTIES"

Greaves writes:  "Sciabarra's insights into the similarities of these two thinkers [Marx and Hayek] are surprisingly original. And he also discusses new leftists Hilary Wainwright and Jurgen Habermas ... Whatever the scholarly merits of the book, however, Sciabarra's turgid prose makes it difficult to read. ... Judging by Sciabarra's insightful analysis in Ayn Rand: The Russian Radical, he is capable of writing clearly. But this book is his doctoral thesis; perhaps Sciabarra's professors confused density with profundity, and he wrote this way to satisfy them."
