Mary, Quite Contrary

Ann Powers

Powers writes on "Mary Daly, a founder mother of the women's movement, [who] fights for her place in academia and in the feminist family."

In the article, Powers discusses how "Daly's vision . . . resonates within feminist debate.  The academic philosophers Marilyn Frye and Sarah Lucia Hoagland are editing an anthology of critical responses to her work, to be published as part of the 'Rereading the Canon' series by Pennsylvania State University Press in the winter of 2000.  The series also includes thinkers like Plato, Descartes, Mary Wollstonecraft and Ayn Rand."
